Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and can close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home using a combined gross house earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined home revenue would not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are learning or intend to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait nsfas application for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
